+ What is a Turbo LIMS?
Turbo Lims is combination of both a LIMS and 20in20 challenge, originally offered by [info]turbo_lims. Makers are given one month to make 12 icons and once icons are submitted, icons are voted off in way similar to a LIMS challenge - the only catch is, voting is put up once a day, instead of once a week.

+ What is a Rumble Challenge?
A Rumble Challenge is similar to a LIMS, except there are no eliminations. Instead, participants earn points throughout the challenge (for entering & voting, as well as placing!). When the challenge is over, the participant with the most points is declared the winner.

+ What is a Turbo Rumble?
A Turbo Rumble is a challenge that joins the best parts of these two systems together. It's a LIMS without the eliminations, and a challenge community without the weekly submissions. Each Round will have a THEME with a Multi-Fandom focus. There will be no provided pictures. This will ensure entrants are able to icons what they love, but still participate in the challenges.

TURBO-RUMBLE RULES

+ Each round will consist of 12 challenges. These challenges will focus on two key themes: interpretative themes and technical aspects of icon making.

+ Icons submitted must adhere to the Live Journal rules for icons: Under 40kb in size. We are also not accepting animated at this stage. Blending of one or more images is allowed.

+ To participate in the challenges, you need to be a member of the community, sign up to the sign-ups post, and submit your icons by the due date.

VOTING RULES
+ Voting is mandatory for all participants. If you do not vote for 3 ROUNDS [They do not have to be consecutive], you will be given 2 NEGATIVE POINTS. This is to encourage as much participation in the Voting Rounds and avoid delays in the voting schedule.

+ You will be asked to vote for your TOP 3 icons, pick 1 icon for the SPECIAL CATEGORY, and provide CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM for a further 2 icons. You will also be given the option to provide further feedback.

+ CONSTRUCTIVE VOTES will not result in negative points. The constructive votes have been included to provide members with as much feedback as possible.

+ A VOTING DECONSTRUCTION has been set up here. It endeavors to explain, but most importantly show examples of detailed constructive criticism.

+ Points will be awarded for the winners in each challenge.
1st Place: 5 points
2nd Place: 4 points
3rd Place: 3 points
Best Interpretation of Theme: 2 points
Mods Choice: 1 point

+ Members will receive 1 point for voting in each challenge, which is 12 potential points just for voting.

+ There will also be points for promotion of the community - a member can gain up to 2 extra points for promoting during the sign-up period. Promotion must occur in two separate communities or journals.

+ At the end of each round, the member with the highest accumulative points will be awarded first place. The member with the second highest amount of points will be awarded second, and the third highest amount of points will be awarded third.

+ Votes are not weighted. However in the event of a tie, the icon with the most 1st [then 2nd] place votes will be given the higher place.

+ In addition to these places, there will be a Most Valuable Player award, given to a member who has continued to give useful constructive critique throughout the voting phase.

Not only will the MVP be given the title, they will be given the opportunity to pick four challenges for the following round: two technical themes, and two interpretative themes.

Further more, the MVP does not have to be an entrant in each Round. They can be a consistent watcher who has taken the time to vote in each Challenge for the round, and taken the time to give more concrit than is necessary.

+ If you fail to vote in three rounds throughout the Rumble, you will be given 2 Negative Votes. This is to encourage as much participation in the Voting Rounds and avoid delays in the voting schedule.

+ Constructive critiques for each challenge will be posted along with the challenge results. If you are unable to handle constructive criticism, please do not sign up for the round. However the mods of this community believe well through out constructive critiques can help an icon maker improve, and will be doing all that they can to ensure that each comment is useful, and not disrespectful in any way to the icon maker.

+ You may enter any mediums that fulfill the requirements of the Round, unless the Round specifies otherwise. The following mediums (and others) are welcome: Television Shows, Movies, Short Films, Music Videos, Video Games, Comics, Cartoon Strips & Manga. If you have any other mediums you are unsure of, please asks the mods here, and they will get back to you with an answer.

+ Suggestions are always welcome. If you have any ideas for future themes (Overall Round themes or technical/interpretative themes) or community improvements, we are more than happy to consider them.

If you have any other questions or concerns that have not been covered in this post, please don't hesitate to contact a mod here, and they will get back to you as soon as possible with an answer.

HOW TO: A CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM VOTING DECONSTRUCTION

This guide was created as a [info]turbo_rumble initiative to offer examples of detailed constructive criticism.

Providing constructive criticism can become quite intimidating. Not only should you be validating your reasoning with solid observations, you should also consider how the icon could be improved technically, then provide useful suggestions, all the while using polite, technical language.

As icon makers, we recognize that icons, like most things in life, are highly subjective. What you find appealing in an icon, others may find distracting. We also understand that sometimes you can see certain elements of an icon's composition that are lacking, but struggle to find the correct words or phrases to suggest why exactly that is.

We hope this example guide will provide our members who are feeling a little stuck on one or both these issues with a little summary concerning what they are looking for, and how they can consider critiquing it. This is by no means a complete guide, a MUST FOLLOW guide, or even an 'official' guide. It is simply something composed by two icon makers who are passionate about decent constructive criticism being delivered to help icon makers improve.

Links to tutorials have been included with each of the deconstructions pertaining to how that element works within Photoshop, PSP and GIMP. This is for members who wish to gain a better understanding of how each element is produced, and therefore where exactly the icon could be improved.

If after reading this guide you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask them here, and the mods will do their best to provide you with an answer.

NOTE: All examples by [info]raiindust. Examples have also only been critiqued on their particular element, even if there may have been something further to comment upon.
